Our Bedroom: Part 2
(The Rest Of) Our Bedroom
Although I shared the majority of our bedroom in this post last week, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite little details.

Creating Vignettes
My mom has taught me everything I know about decorating. Growing up, our house was always beautifully decorated. The best thing my mom taught me is to create “vignettes” as she calls them. When you are tasked with decorating a large space, its easy to feel overwhelmed and not know where to start. That’s why my mom always said to choose a small area and fully decorate that area first. It feels weird at first to only be decorating one small spot in a room, and I always have anxiety about how it is all going to come together, but I promise it’s the best way to go! As long as you are decorating in your own personal style, each of your vignettes will come together when you’re finished.
The second best thing my mom taught be about decorating is to always decorate in groups of three. Whether it is three candle sticks, three picture frames, three plants, everything looks better when placed in groups of three. This vignette I created is the best example of that. I felt frustrated with what to do with this big empty corner. As soon as I decided to start with the wall, then the side table, and last the table in the corner, and add three things to each, it turned out awesome!
You gotta love a good gallery wall (wait till you see my living room)! Yet a gallery wall doesn’t always have to be a huge wall with 20 photos on it. I call these two cards I framed and my hat a gallery wall! To me, its just a mix of things you love placed on the wall that creates a fun and homey effect. Once again, with this mini gallery wall I used the rule of three. The two prints alone looked too small and were lost on the big open wall. So I hammered in a quick nail and hung a hat I already had.

Accessorizing A Dresser
Accessorizing dressers is something that is somewhat easy, but hard to make it functional and cute at the same time. This dresser is the matching dresser to the white one in the corner of our room. My dad refinished it for me, I bought cheap knobs from Hobby Lobby, and I couldn’t be happier with it! Pro Tip: Do NOT spend $25 a knob at Anthropologie, Hobby Lobby has a lot of almost the exact same knobs for a fraction of the price. I had to go to multiple Hobby Lobbys (family even sent some from out of state) but it was so worth the $80 savings!
Having the top of a dresser in a bedroom remain functional is really important to me. We have a fairly small bathroom, so I needed a place to put my perfume and jewelry. Adding a mirrored tray anywhere instantly creates a pretty place to put things (I also LOVE this one)! Having unique jewelry stands like this copper and concrete one adds so much flair while maintaining function.

Stylish Storage
Most days, I am lazy. Like, really lazy. That’s why it has always been important for me to add pieces to our home (especially the bedroom) that counteract that laziness. Storage pieces that are not only stylish but also serve a purpose are vital. Hooks are some of my favorite ways to keep a tidy home. If there is a hook to hang something on everywhere you look, there is no reason for anything to be thrown on the floor! This piece is also one of the greatest purchases to date (similar here and here). For all those “worn but not yet totally dirty” clothes! It has cleaned up our bedroom floor completely.
That’s So You
When it comes down to it, if there is one space in your home that should be “so you”, it is your bedroom. Our bedroom might not be exactly “so Kyle” but he is kind enough to let me have the reins when it comes to decorating. I love waking up here and I am proud of what I have created. I would love to know your thoughts on our room and what your must have bedroom pieces are!

Thank you so much for the compliments but you are so much better at making your space beautiful. I love the way you create such peaceful surroundings and make it unique to you. You do a great job with what u have already with a little touch of new now and then. I feel so grateful that you think I taught u so much but you ran with it and created your OWN style, although I used the words vignette and 3’s a lot .. lol
