NBR Extensions Update
Two Months Later…
I wanted to give a little update on my extensions since I talk about frequently on my Instagram stories but haven’t gone into much detail. As a reminder, they are Natural Beaded Rows Extensions installed at Intentions Salon. As I said in my previous post, “obsessed is an understatement” still holds true.
I have had them in now for a little over two and a half months. When I first got them, it definitely took some getting used to. For the first two weeks I struggled with styling them and got frustrated because it seemed like so much more work. Since then, I’ve mastered the art of the undone curl with my extensions. All it took was watching a tutorial and spending some time playing with new techniques. I never thought this would be the case but they really do require less “work” on my hair than before I had them. It’s so easy to throw in a couple curls and go!

That Feeling
I wanted to write this post because I can now 100% honestly say that I simply adore them. Not only are they less work but the way they make me feel about myself is just so amazing. Looks aren’t everything, I promise you I know that. Yet when you look good most of the time you feel good, and I have been feeling so good lately! I have been getting ready more often since my hair now takes only a few minutes. The simple fact of putting on jeans on a day when I would normally not change out of yoga pants helps my mood, and that has been a lot easier lately.
I was looking through my Instagram feed last night and noticed I have been smiling more in my photos. I’ve always hated my teeth so I don’t smile with teeth often. Yet every photo lately has been a wide cheesy grin! I feel so much more confident with this badass hair! I know it’s not my real hair and won’t last forever, but damn it feels good to rock this look for the time being!
Extensions At Intentions
I also can’t say enough about Jules at Intentions salon. She goes above and beyond in her work. She is a boss woman and I love it. Jules is so great at what she does and truly believes in the NBR process. She made me believe it enough for me to get them, but even I was unsure in the beginning. I wanted so badly to like them but I have to admit during those first few weeks they took some getting used to. Now I can’t imagine life without them!
I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to watch someone get their NBR extensions installed for the first time at Intentions. She was a mom of a preschooler and a one year old. She admitted to not spending enough time on herself and wanted to do this as a treat for the holidays. You could see her confidence go through the roof as she left the salon feeling fabulous with her new hair.

New Hair Who Dis
If you are looking into extensions at all I can’t recommend the NBR process enough. They have done nothing to damage my already distressed hair and have probably saved it a little since the added hair takes the brunt of the styling. I went to Intentions a few weeks ago to get mine tightened up and the entire process (minus color) of taking them out and reinstalling them took under an hour. One of my biggest regrets now having extensions, is not having them for my wedding. I would have loved to attend my bridal showers with full long hair and styled it for my wedding day. It would have also been so fun and easy to have them on our honeymoon too!
Overall my experience with NBR Extensions has just been wonderful. To the chick who invented and mastered the process, thanks girl, I owe ya one.

I just got NBR.. any recomendations or tutorials you recommend?
Hey Suzan!
The biggest thing I learned from playing around with different tools and styles is using a bigger barrel makes it easier. It takes less time (since you now have so much more hair) than using a small barrel. I use a 1 1/4″ Hot Tools curling iron and it gives me the loose waves look pictured in this post! Also I use a lot of oil on them, almost nightly in order to keep them healthy. I use the Lanza anti aging oil but any oil (without keratin-that eats up the extension hair) would work. DM me on Instagram @katelynsailor if you ever have any more questions!
