Our Bedroom: Part 1
Our Bedroom
When I first started decorating our bedroom, the word “minimal” came to mind. Our living room took on a life of it’s own, with a colorful decor piece or plant covering every inch of it. I will share our modern boho living room soon! But because of everything going on in the living/dining area, I wanted to keep our bedroom more of a relaxing space. I am always thinking of things to add, but for now, I am happy with the way it came out.
The Bed
When we moved to Raleigh six months ago I finally convinced Kyle to upgrade to a king bed. We got a Leesa mattress with this bed frame and could NOT be happier with it. Somehow Lou still takes up the majority share of the bed, but a king is the way to go for any couple.
I knew I wanted stark white, simple bedding. We get so hot under comforters so I knew this quilt bedding set would be perfect. Plus, at $60 and such great quality, its a steal. After weeks of looking, I finally found our headboard on Craigslist for $100. We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies driving it home. It even broke one of my taillights as it was sticking out of the trunk door and bouncing, but it was totally worth it. It happened to be already spray painted that pretty green color too so I kept it.

Lighting
Like I expressed on Instagram Stories, I am so pleased with the way the hanging plants and light fixture turned out above the tall dresser! These plant hangers are so cheap and have found homes in multiple rooms in my home. The lighting cord we used comes in such fun colors, you can mix and match with the globe! My mom always told me to decorate in threes. So after much deliberation, I think the two plants plus light fixture all work great together!
The wall lamps are probably one of my favorite things in the room. I have always wanted wall lamps next to the bed. But having them wired so that you don’t see the cord is expensive and considering we still rent, just not worth it. These were a great solution because even the cord is cute (AND matches the cord on my ceiling fixture)!

Furniture & Decor
The two little side tables were great finds at Ikea. Modern style nightstands are SO expensive I was excited to find these at $60 each. These nightstands are also really cute for around the same price (also these)!
My tall dresser is an antique that has been in my dad’s family for years. I had it painted a few years ago but would love to have it restored to it’s originally natural wood someday. My favorite part of decorating any room is the small accessories and plants. I adore the mix of random knick knacks I find and fall in love with. Another decorating MUST for me is unique wall hooks. Instead of throwing stuff on the floor, having hooks all around makes it easier for the room to stay tidy and takes up wall space. This plant stand is one of my best Ikea finds to date. Such a unique way to display not only plants but anything!

Overall I think the entire room is comfortable and cute. Lou seems happy with it so that is really all that matters anyways right? The room gets great light from the huge window we have. There are things I want to add and tweaks I need to make but that will come with time. I also have a blog post about the other little areas of my room I am excited to share. I’m interested to know what you guys think of our bedroom!
