Over the Rhine

Can we talk about my new favorite city? I am obsessed with Cincinnati! The weekend before our Costa Rica trip we had to be in Cinci for a wedding. Luckily we have good friends that live there so we got the inside tour of the newly renovated “OTR” neighborhood downtown. We had such a great time with old friends in a new place. I decided to wear my favorite flares (that are still on sale!) since it was somewhat cooler than at home. I love this little cactus top too. I wore this Kendra Scott Necklace from Rocks Box to add a pop of color that happened to match my lip color. These colors felt so fresh and fun together it was a great outfit for a night out in a new city.
We went out in a newer part of town called Over the Rhine or OTR. The streets were lined with unique apartments, cute shops, and tons of bars and restaurants. We had such delicious food there. I was so impressed with what this area had to offer. If you are ever in the area here are my top picks for where to go!
Senate: Hands down the best hot dog I have ever had! It’s a cute little place with great beer and gourmet street food. They have a handful of different hot dogs that all sounded amazing. I ordered the korean because I am a sucker for anything with kimchi on it. It was amazing. Trying all of their hot dogs is now on my bucket list.
Rhinegeist Brewery: One of the coolest breweries I have been to. Not only is it huge, all of their spaces are really interesting and fun. My favorite was the rooftop bar with plenty of seating and views of the city. Last but not least was the beer. I know I speak for everyone when I say “I’m really into sours right now.” but they sure had some good ones! Their Peach Dodo gose was my favorite.
Eli’s BBQ: O.M.G. Being from Texas and North Carolina I like to pride myself on being a BBQ expert. Never would I have guessed that Cincinnati, Ohio would produce some of the best BBQ I have ever had. Kyle, myself, and two other friends ordered more food than we could ever imagine eating (yet somehow we did it). The pulled pork sandwich was my favorite but I highly recommend anything from this one of a kind spot!
Findlay Market: My absolute favorite part of Cincinnati and OTR. It is an open air market with food, drinks, shopping, and everything my little heart could desire. The inside was filled with meat markets and butcher shops. The outdoor shops sold fresh fruits and veggies along with handmade goods. The best part was the mixed drinks and beer sold everywhere you turned. We drank, we ate at Eli’s, and listened to live music in the streets. A good time was had by all.
I hope you get a chance to visit Cincinnati sometime. It has changed a lot in the past ten years and I can’t wait to go back again. It was a great way to start our vacation!
